Description

The EDI Management Dashboard provides an easy-to-navigate, graphical user interface for managing all of your complex EDI Documents or Transaction Sets.

Here, you can view the EDI Segments and Loops (i.e., Element or Field) of a document or transaction set in a familiar EDI nested structure.

Users can manage EDI Projects and Versions within this dashboard, modify Domain Attribute Values, and access all necessary modules for complex data generation.

In This Article

This article will introduce you to the graphical user interface elements of the EDI Management Dashboard and how to use them.

How to Access the Dashboard

This dashboard can be accessed by expanding the Management Menu and selecting the EDI Management option.

EDI Management Dashboard Panes

The dashboard is split into three panes and includes a tree view to make managing a complex EDI document or transaction set information easy.

EDI Header Pane

The EDI Header pane can be used to view, manage, and select EDI Projects within GenRocket. Each item in this pane represents a single document or transaction set.

Here, you can view, modify, lock/unlock, and remove EDI Projects (i.e., Documents or Transaction Sets):

EDI Versions Pane

The EDI Versions pane can be used to view and manage EDI Versions for a selected EDI Project. Every EDI Project will have at least one version when it is created for a document or transaction set.

You can copy a version to implement changes without affecting another version. This ensures version control while generating EDI test data.

EDI Document Pane

The EDI Document pane can be used to expand, view, and manage a complex EDI Document or Transaction Set. The image below shows an 837I Transaction Set.

Changes made here apply to the template as a whole. We recommend using Test Data Cases when the change should not apply to every generated EDI document.

EDI Tree View

The EDI Document pane displays each Header, Segment, Loop (i.e., Element or Field), and Trailer into an easy-to-navigate tree structure view.

These sections in the tree structure may be expanded or collapsed by clicking on the Expand/Collapse option.

Filtering EDI Segments and Loops

The Filter field at the top can be used to locate a specific segment or loop within an EDI document or transaction set. Click on the field and type all or part of the name and the search will occur automatically. Use the X to remove the filter.

Enabling and Disabling Segments or Loops

By default, every segment and loop is enabled in the EDI configuration. A segment or loop may be disabled by removing the checkmark or enabled again by checking the box.

EDI Variables

Each segment and loop has its own variables as well. It is recommended to leave the Min Occurs, and Max Occurs values as is. These values are standardized for the EDI document or transaction set.

The Loop Count may be altered; however, it is important to know that this change will affect the actual output of the EDI configuration. The number of segment output depends on this value. If it is a loop, then it impacts the entire group of segments within the loop.

Note: The Loop Count value may be changed at the Test Data Case Level to ensure it does not impact every tester using the segment.

EDI Management Dashboard Buttons

Several buttons can be found above the EDI Document Configuration. These buttons can be used to access specific modules and perform certain actions.
